AIXTRON AS EMPLOYER
Welcome to the world of high technology.
AIXTRON is the specialist when it comes to developing, producing, selling, and maintaining systems for the deposition of complex materials. As the technology leader, we play a leading role in technological megatrends such as digitization, communications, and mobility with our highly versatile core technology of MOCVD (metal-organic chemical vapor phase deposition).
Our products make us the top address in the growing markets for optoelectronics and power electronics. In optoelectronics, customers use our equipment to produce laser chips for optical data transmission and 3D sensors such as those used as VCSEL (vertical cavity self-emitting lasers) for face recognition in smartphones or in systems such as LIDAR (light detection and ranging) for scanning and recognizing the surroundings in autonomous vehicles.
Not only that, the IT and telecommunications industry offers further areas of application for optoelectronics with topics such as optic and wireless data transfer or the Internet of Things. Furthermore, the products manufactured using our systems also include special LEDS, such as the red, orange, and yellow LEDs (ROY) needed for certain display applications, blue LEDs for automobile lighting, and UV LEDs for environmentally-friendly water disinfection.
In power electronics, our systems are used to produce semiconductor modules from III-V materials such as gallium nitride (GaN), which are then used in high-efficiency compact adaptors for smartphones and servers. What’s more, our systems also enable components to be produced from silicon carbide (SiC). These are used in photovoltaics inverters, wind power, and increasingly in charging stations for electric vehicles, as well as in their powertrains. Not least, AIXTRON’s systems are also used to produce the high-efficiency components needed for wireless data transmission under the current and future mobile wireless standards (4.5G and 5G).
Alongside its existing product lines, AIXTRON also has a number of innovation projects to work on developing systems and technologies for use in the manufacture of graphene, carbon nanotubes, and carbon nanowires. These 2D materials offer promising potential for numerous future applications in areas such as battery technologies and displays.
