The name AIXTRON is made up of the French name for the city of Aachen, “Aix-la-Chapelle”, and part of the word “electronics”. This way, the company describes both its geographical roots and its connection to technology.
At AIXTRON, we believe that good apprenticeship is the foundation for a successful career. That’s why we offer motivated young people the chance to learn various vocations. A dual course of study is another option for shaping your professional future with us. Unlike the classic apprenticeship model, where apprentices work at the company and attend a vocational school, a dual course of study combines theory and practice. You are enrolled at a university and regularly alternate between your studies and working for us. This allows you to put what you have learned into practice straight away, and at the same time you earn an academic degree. We provide training in order to be successful together. We therefore strive to offer a permanent position to all apprentices who successfully complete the programme.
We are currently working on a project about data. At AIXTRON’s facilities, data are continuously being measured and stored, and right now we’re using an outdated storage database. In our project, we looked at whether we could use a new, more extensive database. There have been plenty of opportunities to learn and apply new things over the course of the project. And our trainers have always been there to offer their support.

During your apprenticeship, we will comprehensively prepare you for your later work in our international company. We take our responsibility for your professional future seriously: Throughout your entire training period, you will be supervised by qualified and experienced co-workers to get you ready for the later demands of your future career through active, hands-on learning.

AIXTRON is counting on the future of technology and therefore offers a broad range of training programmes. For example, you can choose to take a dual course of studies in Business Administration or Mathematical-Technical Software Development (MATSE) with us. You’ve also come to the right place for training programmes to become a mechatronics engineer, an industrial manager or an IT specialist in system integration or data and process analysis. We are constantly working to offer more training programmes to keep up with the fast-paced world of technology. AIXTRON offers interested high school and university students as well as young professionals a variety of opportunities to form an impression of the company and the fields it operates in. One of these is the annual Girls’/Boys’ Day, where high school students can witness the world of AIXTRON and find out more about their career opportunities. Workshops at schools, including applicant training, and fascinating presentations round off the range for high school students.
The company also regularly offers internships that allow high school students to experience the world of work. Career fairs are another good way to get to know our company better. We also have long-standing cooperations with the Einhard Grammar School in Aachen and Vocational College “Herzogenrath Nord”. In this context, the company offers students assessment centre training, production tours and career discovery days, for example.

I chose the Business Studies PLUS dual course of study at AIXTRON because I find it highly motivating to work at an innovative company. Moreover, as an industrial company, AIXTRON is an excellent fit for modules at a technical college or vocational school. A lot of what you learn can be used directly in your day-to-day work.
